Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer

Medtronic seeks a senior mechanical design engineer to support initial development of electrophysiology devices for cardiac arrhythmia treatment. This hands-on R&D role involves conceptualizing catheter and sheath products, developing manufacturing processes, and collaborating across disciplines in Newton, Massachusetts.

Responsibilities

• Design and prototype mechanical elements of cardiac electrophysiology catheters and Class II/III devices
• Develop manufacturing and assembly processes for complex miniature catheter assemblies
• Create and implement test methods and fixtures for device validation and characterization
• Participate in design reviews, FMEA analyses, and troubleshoot manufacturing issues
• Attend preclinical evaluations and collaborate with clinicians on design concepts

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree plus 4+ years relevant experience, or Master's with 2+ years, or PhD
• Strong mechanical product design experience
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools, preferably SolidWorks
• Medical device design experience preferred
• Mechanical aptitude and comfort working in laboratory environments
• Self-directed, organized, and detail-oriented
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills
