Asset Accounting Manager

Role Overview As Manager of our Asset Accounting group, you will play a critical role in supporting PGE’s strategic investment plans. You’ll be responsible for accounting and controls related to the lifecycle of capital projects, such as construction, allowance for funds used during construction (AFUDC), depreciation, cost of removal, asset retirement obligations, and retirement. You’ll ensure the integrity of internal controls and accounting records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), regulatory accounting, and the company’s capital policy. Responsibilities Review and approve journal entries and reconcile ledger accounts and financial statements to support SEC and FERC filings. Plan, align, and supervise accounting research, application, and interpretation of the capital policy and ratemaking activities (e.g., general rate cases, stand‑alone ratemaking). Provide analysis and consulting support to the business regarding forecasting and budgeting variances to aid decision‑making. Collaborate frequently with corporate planning, rates and regulatory affairs, and various utility operations departments. Manage professional employees and/or supervisors; be accountable for the performance and results of the team. Adapt departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges. Provide subject‑matter guidance to employees, colleagues and customers. Monitor and manage expenditures, ensuring financial targets are met and investigating budget variances. Oversee resourcing decisions and planning; partner with HR on recruitment, evaluation, and selection processes. Review organizational development needs and implement training strategies; provide coaching, mentoring, and performance management reviews. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Eight or more years of related experience in accounting, finance, or utility operations. CPA preferred. Advanced knowledge of GAAP, regulatory accounting, internal controls (SOX), accounting policies, and utility financial regulations. Strong analytical, decision‑making, written and oral communication, interpersonal, organizational, and prioritization skills. Leadership experience in managing teams and driving results. Advanced knowledge of financial systems and utility industry operations. Intermediate knowledge of enterprise/business awareness. Advanced decision‑making, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
