Dental Assistant

Dental Assistant Family Health Centers of San Diego is hiring a Dental Assistant to support the dental team across multiple sites. Responsibilities Accurately chart diagnosis, assist front office with charts, recalls, billing, x-rays, and filing. Assist both dentist and hygienist chairside as needed. Translate communication of treatment and information between patients and providers. Complete all required documentation accurately, timely, and thoroughly in accordance with department standards and insurance requirements. Maintain instruments and equipment, sterilization, tray set‑ups, unit stocking‑preparations to facilitate efficiency, quality care, and provider satisfaction. Maintain equipment including x‑ray equipment, sterilizers, vacuum system dental units, and handpieces. Use resources efficiently and practice in a cost‑effective manner. Perform dental assistant duties, including instrument processing and sterilization. Takes x‑rays of good diagnostic quality, acceptable to providers and third‑party payers. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Certificate of completion from an accredited program for dental assistants or equivalent on‑the‑job training. Current American Heart Association CPR (BLS) certification. Dental x‑ray certificate. High school diploma (or GED equivalent). California Dental Board Dental Practice Act and Infection Control certifications required within one year of employment. Valid California driver’s license, automobile, and proof of minimum levels of car insurance as required under California law. Travel between sites and other locations occasionally required. Reasonable accommodation may be provided on a case‑by‑case basis. 1 year experience as a dental assistant preferred. Bilingual in Spanish/English may be required depending on assignment.
