Payroll & Benefits Manager

Our client, a luxury retail brand , is seeking an experienced Payroll and Benefits Manager to oversee U.S. payroll and support benefits and leave administration during a family leave. This person will take full ownership of payroll for approximately 300 employees, including 250 retail store employees. This role is on-site in NYC , and will move to a hybrid schedule after the first month.

An immediate start is essential to allow for training and overlap with the current team.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage the full payroll cycle for approximately 300 U.S. employees using ADP Workforce Now.
• Review and validate retail employees’ time records, ensuring hours are complete and accurate before processing payroll.
• Proactively follow up with store managers to resolve missing punches, incomplete timecards, and other timekeeping discrepancies.
• Review payroll changes, deductions, and adjustments to ensure accurate and timely payment.
• Serve as the primary contact for payroll questions and resolve employee payroll issues.
• Partner with HR on benefits administration and employee leaves of absence, including related payroll updates.
• Maintain accurate payroll records and support applicable reporting and compliance requirements.
• Complete an accelerated handoff with the current team member to ensure continuity throughout the leave.

Qualifications

• Experience independently owning and processing payroll from start to finish.
• Retail industry experience required , including payroll for a substantial hourly employee population.
• Hands-on proficiency with ADP Workforce Now required , including payroll processing and timekeeping.
• Experience supporting employee benefits and leave-of-absence administration.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
• Ability to communicate effectively with store managers and resolve outstanding timekeeping issues under tight deadlines.
• Ability to handle sensitive employee information with discretion.
• Workday experience is a plus.
• Availability to interview and start immediately required.

Pay $42-$46/hr
