Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a Neuro ICU setting with a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio, managing diagnoses including stroke, neurosurgery, neuro-specific conditions, and complex spine cases
• Perform and manage advanced neurological interventions including CVA/acute stroke management, external ventricular drain (EVD) care, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, and post-craniotomy/post-neurosurgery care
• Monitor and manage cardiac rhythms, respond to emergencies, and participate with Rapid Response and Code teams
• Administer and titrate continuous IV sedation, IV paralytics/neuromuscular blockade, and cardiac and vasoactive drips; manage emergency medications
• Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and maintain central/peripheral lines, ports, arterial lines, and PICC lines
• Support respiratory management including ventilator care, BiPAP/CPAP, and suctioning (ETT and NT); float within skillset as required

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia State RN license or active Compact RN license required; pending license accepted only if candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• EPIC charting experience required
• Previous Neuro ICU experience required; large L1/L2 facility experience required
• Must work at least one holiday per 13-week contract period
• Weekend availability required; may include every other weekend or up to 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are generally not accepted; candidates residing 50–99.9 miles away may be considered for a single 13-week assignment with no extension eligibility

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with therapeutic thermoregulation and EVD management
• Strong proficiency in ventilator management and care of ventilated patients
• Prior travel nursing experience; first-time travelers are welcome to apply
