Registered Nurse – Cardiac Stepdown (PCU)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 36-bed PCU Cardiac/Intermediate Care unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4–5, which may include a mix of PCU and med-surg patients
• Manage and titrate cardiac and critical drips including amiodarone, cardizem, dobutamine, dopamine, heparin, nitroglycerin, and insulin
• Care for patients with diagnoses including CHF, NSTEMI, MI, heart block, bradycardia, VT, sepsis, respiratory failure, post-surgical recovery, and PCU overflow
• Recover cardiac catheterization patients following sheath removal and support post-procedural care for TAVR, CABG (day 2), and Watchman procedures
• Read and interpret telemetry strips independently; a dedicated monitor tech is also available on the unit
• Manage patients on BiPAP, high-flow oxygen, and stable trach as needed; float to ICU (within patient population) and med-surg floors as required

Required Qualifications

• Active RN licensure in Arizona or compact state eligibility
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum of one successfully completed travel assignment required; first-time travelers will not be considered
• Demonstrated PCU, stepdown, or telemetry experience with cardiac patient populations
• Proficiency with all titratable drips listed above is required prior to placement
• Must reside at least 100 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with TAVR and CABG post-operative patient care
• Prior experience in a cardiac-focused PCU or intermediate care setting
• Comfort with low-census call and flexible scheduling within unit needs
