Registered Nurse (RN) – Telemetry / Med-Surg & Cardiac Observation

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Every-other-weekend requirement (Fri/Sat/Sun for nights)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 21-bed Med-Surg and Cardiac Observation unit with an average nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6, caring for patients with diagnoses including pre/post cath, chest pain rule-outs on heparin drips, COPD, CHF, arrhythmias, and general Med-Surg conditions
• Read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips in real time using the unit's bedside monitor; telemetry monitor techs are available on a separate floor for additional support
• Administer and manage set-rate drips including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Bumex, and Lasix; titration of drips is not required
• Collaborate with charge nurses (present on the unit 24/7) and nurse aides; night charge nurses take a patient assignment
• Support or manage patients on BiPAP and CPAP for supportive therapy; patients dependent on these modalities are typically transferred to a higher-acuity unit
• Be prepared to float to other units within the hospital, including ICU and Stepdown, with assignments limited to patients within your demonstrated skillset

Required Qualifications

• Active RN licensure applicable to the state of West Virginia
• BLS certification (required, must be current and unexpired)
• ACLS certification (required, must be current and unexpired)
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips
• Experience administering set-rate Cardizem and Amiodarone drips
• All time-off requests must be disclosed upfront and included in the contract; requests made after contract execution are subject to facility approval based on unit needs

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with TR Bands (transradial hemostasis bands) is a strong plus
• Prior experience in a fast-paced cardiac observation or telemetry setting with high admission and discharge volume
• Familiarity with cardiac pacemakers and arrhythmia management
