Corporate Controller

A growing boutique private equity firm is seeking an experienced and hands-on Management Company Controller to lead all accounting, financial reporting, treasury, budgeting, and operational finance activities for the management company and affiliated entities. This role will serve as a key business partner to firm leadership, helping drive financial discipline, operational efficiency, and scalable infrastructure to support the firm's continued growth. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with a process-oriented mindset and experience leading system implementations, ERP migrations, and finance transformation initiatives. This individual will play a critical role in enhancing internal controls, improving reporting capabilities, and building scalable processes across the organization. Key Responsibilities Oversee all accounting functions for the management company and related entities, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and cash management. Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP. Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, and compliance requirements with external auditors and advisors. Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and documentation to ensure consistency and compliance. Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Planning Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process for management company operations. Develop financial models, variance analyses, and key performance metrics to support strategic decision-making. Partner with firm leadership to evaluate operating expenses, resource allocation, and long-term growth initiatives. Provide financial insights and recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency. Treasury & Cash Management Oversee cash flow forecasting, liquidity planning, and banking relationships. Monitor working capital and manage capital calls, partner contributions, and distributions related to management company activities. Ensure proper controls over cash receipts, disbursements, and treasury operations. ERP, Systems & Process Improvement Lead ERP implementations, upgrades, and system migration initiatives, including requirements gathering, vendor management, testing, training, and post-implementation support. Evaluate and optimize finance technology infrastructure to improve scalability, reporting, and operational effectiveness. Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and streamline workflows across accounting, reporting, and operational functions. Develop and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls. Partner with internal stakeholders and external consultants to support finance transformation initiatives and system integrations. Internal Controls & Compliance Establish, document, and strengthen internal controls and financial processes. Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and firm policies. Assess operational risks and recommend solutions to mitigate financial and control-related exposures. Support the development of governance frameworks and best practices as the firm grows. Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration Serve as a trusted advisor to partners and senior leadership on financial and operational matters. Manage and mentor accounting and finance personnel as the organization expands. Collaborate with investor relations, operations, human resources, compliance, and fund accounting teams to ensure alignment across the firm.
