Systems Engineer

Required Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical engineering, computer science or relevant field 3-7 years of experience required.

Required Qualifications: The main function of a systems engineer is to apply the principles of computer science and mathematical analysis to the design, development, testing, and evaluation of the software and systems that make computers work. A typical systems engineer analyzes user needs, and then designs, tests, and develops software to meet those needs.

This position is for a Systems Engineer to support the CMS solutions group within the Integrated Solutions division. The individual hired for this position will work as part of an engineering team performing validation for the autonomous truck programs within CLIENT. We have HIL labs, SIL labs, and the BB test track where we put the hardware and software onto surrogate vehicles for on-machine testing and integration. The team does system integration and validation for remote control, semi-autonomous and autonomous machines, creating test benches, execute testing, develop automation and simulation for testing.

Required Technical Skills: Systems requirements decomposition, strong networking and systems design, CAN tools, Linux OS, camera, radar, and LiDAR calibration and validation, Python scripting/test automation, ability to independently plan and execute test activities, strong communication, organizational and documentation, system design and documentation, machine installs of systems, data collection, verification and validation, root cause analysis.

Preferred Technical Skills: Machine operation, robotics or autonomy.

Responsibilities: Design, deploy, and support machine-based data collection systems and connectivity solutions across a variety of equipment and operating environments. Perform data collection, validation, and quality assurance activities to ensure accurate and reliable system performance. Install, calibrate, and troubleshoot cameras, radar, LiDAR, GPS, and data acquisition hardware. Execute system integration, validation, and field-testing activities for advanced safety and automation technologies. Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, networking, and machine integration issues in both laboratory and field environments. Develop and maintain engineering documentation, test procedures, validation plans, and technical reports. Support proving ground, customer site, and machine testing activities, including occasional travel to domestic and international locations. Collaborate with global software, systems, controls, validation, and product support teams to deliver robust and reliable solutions. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance test processes, data quality, and system performance. Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills. Strong ability to work independently and manage one's time. Strong knowledge of the full software development lifecycle: from business/systems analysis, through requirements gathering and functional specification authoring, to development, testing and delivery. Ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issue. Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, electronic equipment and computer hardware and software.
