Executive Chef – Wood-Fired Concept This role requires relocation to Des Moines, IA
Boutique property is seeking an innovative Executive Chef who is passionate about live fire cooking and chef-driven culinary programs. Ample creative latitude exists within redefining an ingredient-driven culinary program, including sourcing and building relationships with local purveyors and farmers. The ideal candidate is a collaborative, team-oriented leader with a background in acclaimed restaurants. Previous boutique hotel experience is a plus, but is not required by any means. More importantly, seeking someone who is excited about elevating the menu and creating memorable guest experiences.

Executive Chef Responsibilities include:- Refine menu offerings and redesign dinner program, centralized around wood-fired components
- Lead, mentor, and develop a stable kitchen team while fostering a positive, professional work environment
- Manage culinary administration, including ordering, inventory, scheduling, and staffing
- Proactively control food, labor, and operating costs, effectively cross-utilizing products while maintaining quality standards
- Ensure strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and kitchen best practices
Executive Chef Preferred Requirements:
- 2 years as an Executive Chef or 4 years as a Chef de Cuisine or Executive Sous Chef in respected, acclaimed restaurants
- Experience in chef driven, ingredient driven kitchens is required, with recent James Beard, Michelin, or World's 50 Best an asset
- Background in a boutique or luxury hotel environment, Michelin Key or Forbes experience is always a plus, but not required
- Passion for delivering elevated guest experiences
- Proven experience managing inventory, cost controls, and P&L performance
- Strong leadership presence with excellent communication and team-building skills
- Flexibility and adaptability to the property’s needs as they arise
Compensation includes:
- Base Salary in the range of $100-125k, with room to come up to $130k for a proven leader
- Strong bonus program
