Motor Vehicle/Office Clerk

Richland County Treasurer is seeking a full-time Motor Vehicle/Office Clerk to join our team. Job Requirements • Skills: This position requires considerable skill in public relations, use of a computer and printer, scanner, calculator (10-key), copier, telephone and fax machine. It also requires self-motivation, efficient time management, the ability to prioritize tasks, and recognizing problems with documents. • Functions: This position requires the ability to communicate with the public -- in person, in writing and on the phone, in sometimes stressful situations; to follow verbal and written instructions; make appropriate decisions according to State Statute and office policy; handle multi-tasks; perform duties in a timely manner; establish good working relations with fellow County and State employees, Supervisor and the public -- to exercise a professional manner at all times which includes friendliness, patience and courtesy. This position also performs secretarial and accounting/bookkeeping duties that will require accuracy and neatness. • Knowledge: This position requires knowledge of bookkeeping, computers, general office machines, state rules and regulations regarding motor vehicles and taxes. Any prior knowledge from working in a Treasurer's office, Motor Vehicle Department or Tax Department would be beneficial, but not required. Education & Experience: • High School Diploma or GED equivalent • Secretarial and Computer skills preferred but not required • Must demonstrate proficiency in basic office skills, computers and public relations • Background check and fingerprinting will be required Benefits include sick leave, vacation time, health insurance, retirement plan, flexible spending account.
