REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
\nAssociates degree from a Commission on Accrediditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited Electroneurodiagnostic (END) or related program or equivalent. Three (3) years experience performing procedures in area of competence. Credentialed through a UTMB approved agency in R. EEG T., CNIM, R.NCS.T., R. EP.T., or CLTM. Current BLS certification.

JOB DESCRIPTION :
\nTo provide advanced technical skills necessary to perform one or more of the following electroneurodiagnostic procedures: electroencephalogram (EEG), intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM), long term monitoring (LTM), evoked potential (EP), and nerve conduction studies (NCV). Serves as preceptor and mentor for Neurodiagnostic Technologist I.

The epilepsy program here at UTMB includes Phase I EMU, Phase II sEEG, ECOG, Wada, Ictal Spect, ICU LTM and will continue to offer the latest and most innovative testing in the field of epilepsy. UTMB EMU is currently level 3 and in the process of advancing to level 4 in the near future. We have routine epilepsy surgery conferences for in-depth learning. If you are willing and eager to learn more advanced testing in EEG, our senior staff members are here to train. Our team encourages education and promotes registration through ASET membership and classes as well as on the job training. You can be a part of the exciting research being conducted in the department too. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

- Establishes lab protocols according to American Clinical Neurophysiology Society (ACNS) Guidelines. \n
- Participates in tutoring, demonstrating, and mentoring other team members. \n
- Performs electroneurodiagnostic studies as per written protocols. \n
- Explains procedures to patient, elicits and records medical history from patient and/or chart. \n
- Applies standard scalp electrodes to meet the standard 10/20 placement. \n
- Records the studies and independently makes alteration of the test protocol based on history and on the ongoing study. Recognize normal and abnormal variants in study recording and acts accordingly. \n
- Recognizes and corrects electrical and electronic malfunction. \n
- Monitors and reviews raw study and video data. \n
- Prepares the completed hard copy of neurodiagnostic studies for interpretation. \n
- Completes the “Technician Impression” sheet which serves as the preliminary report. \n
- Edits and archives EEG and video data of patients’ Video/EEG monitoring. \n
- Competently performs routine inpatient and outpatient neurodiagnostic procedures. \n
- Sets up and provides assistance with area specific neurodiagnostic procedures. \n
- Provides for patient safety related to age and condition. \n
- Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality of information and records at all times. \n
- Provides and maintains a clean, safe environment, free of obstacles, and conducive to a professional environment. \n
- Maintains isolation procedures and follows infection control measures. \n
- Maintains patient care areas with appropriate supplies and equipment. Notifies the Senior Neurodiagnostic Technologist and/or on-coming staff when equipment is missing or broken. \n
- Assists with patient requests for other hospital services. \n
