Director of Donor Relations

Pay Range: $88,288.83-96,640Status: Exempt Last Revised: 08/2026 Definition The Director, Donor Relations, is responsible for the strategic implementation of The Children's Cabinet's individual giving, major gifts, corporate giving. Cultivation of new prospective and existing relationships with donors via moves management process. This position plays a critical role in advancing fundraising initiatives and community engagement. The position reports directly to the Chief Development Officer and works with staff at all levels of the organization, along with board trustees, donors, the business community, and volunteers. This is a full-time position Monday through Friday, eligible for benefits, with the possibility of nights and weekends. Supervision Managers, Coordinators, and Specialist Duties Develop and execute the annual Donor Relations fundraising plan in partnership with the Chief Development Officer, establishing strategies, revenue goals, donor pipeline targets, and performance measures aligned with agency priorities. Personally manage a qualified portfolio of approximately 100 donors and prospects, maintaining responsibility for cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, renewal, and increased giving Maintain ownership of a minimum $500,000 annual revenue goal from new, renewed, and upgraded individual and corporate donors. Develop and execute a comprehensive major gifts strategy that identifies, qualifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards high-capacity donors and prospects. Build and maintain a strong donor pipeline by identifying new prospects through research, community engagement, events, referrals, corporate relationships, volunteers, and existing donor networks. Maintain an active presence in the community through regular face-to-face meetings with donors, prospects, corporate partners, community leaders, and other key stakeholders. Develop and implement corporate engagement strategies, including corporate philanthropy, sponsorships, employee engagement opportunities, and other strategic partnerships. Partner with the Chief Development Officer, CEO, executive leadership, Board of Trustees, and other organizational leaders to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors and prospects. Prepare leadership and Board members for donor engagement activities by providing prospect information, strategy, talking points, and appropriate follow-up. Analyze fundraising performance, donor trends, and pipeline health and make recommendations to the Chief Development Officer regarding strategy, priorities, opportunities, and potential risks. Maintain accurate fundraising forecasts and regularly communicate progress toward annual revenue goals to the Chief Development Officer. Ensure accurate and timely donor and prospect information within the agency's CRM, including contact reports, moves management activity, donor segmentation, solicitation information, and stewardship actions. Develop strategies to convert event attendees, volunteers, sponsors, and community supporters into ongoing donors and long-term agency partners. Collaborate with Marketing and Communications to ensure donor communications, fundraising campaigns, storytelling, and community engagement efforts are aligned with fundraising priorities and The Children's Cabinet brand. Develop and monitor assigned budgets and ensure fundraising activities are implemented effectively and within approved resources. Maintain a strong understanding of The Children's Cabinet's mission, programs, outcomes, strategic priorities, and community impact and effectively communicate them to donors, prospects, volunteers, businesses, and community stakeholders. Represent The Children's Cabinet professionally at donor meetings, community events, networking opportunities, presentations, and other external engagements. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Needed: Skills and Knowledge: Proven track record in major gifts, annual giving and prospect development. Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and public speaking skills. Proficiency in CRM systems, donor database management, and/or Microsoft Office Suite. Strong background and experience in new business development, including donor/company prospecting, donor/company acquisition, and sales. Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed for events and donor engagement. Relate with a multi-generational diverse group of individuals/organizations. Must demonstrate comfort in socializing professionally in both intimate settings and at larger social events Strong relationship-building abilities to foster trust and engagement with supporters. Active listening skills to understand and respond to the needs of donors and volunteers. Requirements: Bachelor's degree OR relevant work experience preferably in a nonprofit, customer service, or administrative role. Complete and pass a background check. Minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising Must have a reliable vehicle to get to and from work, events, and meetings. Must possess a valid Nevada Driver's license, proof of insurance for utilizing a personal vehicle for company business, and a clean driving record. Must be capable of fulfilling all the physical aspects of the job including but not limited to: being able to lift and carry 50 lbs.; able to walk up and down stairs, repetitive keystroking (initiating and responding to e-mails; typing copy, etc.) Ability to work evenings and weekends. Some travel required; office visits and/or training. Eligible to receive Cabinet benefits for full-time staff.   1. Leadership: Program directors are expected to provide strong leadership to their teams, guiding them towards the successful completion of the program's objectives. This involves setting a clear vision, motivating team members, and resolving conflicts that may arise.
  2. Strategic Planning: Program Directors must have a strategic vision for the programs they oversee. This includes defining objectives, developing a roadmap for achieving them, and aligning program goals with the agency's overall strategy/mission. Develop clear program models and research. Directors must work with other program directors to ensure continuity across all program goals as well as collaborate with managers to identify gaps and need for continuous quality improvement.
  3. Communication: Program directors must possess excellent communication skills to effectively convey information to team members, stakeholders, and higher management. This includes written communication for reports, emails, and documentation, as well as verbal communication for meetings and presentations.
  4. Relationships: Offer training, mentorship, and support to help team members grow professionally. Recognize and celebrate the achievements and contributions of team members. Implement strategies to prevent conflicts and maintain a positive team dynamic
  5. Risk Management: Program directors are responsible for identifying potential risks that may impact the program's success and developing mitigation strategies to address them. This includes monitoring risks throughout the program and implementing contingency plans when necessary.
  6. Budget Development: They must develop the program budget, ensuring that funds are allocated efficiently and effectively to meet project goals within budget constraints. This involves tracking expenses, forecasting costs, and making adjustments as needed.
  7. Quality Assurance: Program directors are accountable for the overall quality of deliverables and outcomes produced by the program. They must establish quality standards, monitor progress against these standards, and implement measures to address any deviations or deficiencies.
  8. Team Development: They are responsible for building and nurturing a high-performing team by providing guidance, support, and opportunities for proffessional development. This includes fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment where team members feel motivated and valued.
  9. Adaptability: Program directors should be adaptable and able to manage change effectively, as programs often encounter unforeseen challenges or changes in requirements. They must be able to adjust plans and strategies accordingly to keep the program on track.
  10. Evaluation and Reporting: They need to conduct regular evaluations of the program's progress and performance against established goals and metrics. This involves generating reports and presentations to communicate program status, achievements, and areas for improvement to stakeholders and management.
  11. Partnerships: Identify and engage with stakeholders throughout the program lifecycle to ensure their needs and expectations are understood and addressed appropriately. This involves building and maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds. Fostering strong partnerships with community partners can enhance the reach, effectiveness, and sustainability of their programs, ensuring that they meet community needs and achieve long-term positive impacts
  12. Adherence to Mission and Values: Program Directors are responsible for ensuring that the programs align with the organization's mission, values, and strategic objectives. They should work towards fulfilling the organizations and communities overarching goals.
