University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a Computed Tomography Technologist to support a high-performing imaging environment dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care. The Computed Tomography Technologist operates within a dynamic, team-oriented clinical setting, performing advanced CT imaging procedures ordered by physicians while ensuring precision, safety, and adherence to established protocols. The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge in CT imaging, demonstrated experience operating imaging equipment, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment. A background in radiologic technology, relevant clinical experience, and applicable licensure or certifications are preferred, along with proven communication, critical-thinking, and patient-care skills.

Shift/Hours: Monday thru Tuesday 900-730pm; Friday and Saturday 630am - 5pm

Responsibilities

Technical Skills, Accuracy, Communication & Critical Thinking
• Perform CT imaging using approved protocols and verify orders prior to imaging
• Demonstrate independent functionality after completing clinical competencies
• Review studies for accuracy and ensure proper coding and charging
• Identify and escalate gross pathological findings to the radiologist
• Conduct quality assurance on imaging equipment and resolve quality issues with appropriate teams
• Maintain strong working knowledge of all routine and specialized imaging protocols
• Accurately enter patient and study data into PACS, EMR, and equipment systems
• Communicate effectively with care teams, patients, and guests using appropriate tools
• Maintain high technical accuracy and minimize imaging error rates
• Function effectively in a complex, high-productivity care environment

Patient Care & Safety
• Provide care in a safe, hazard-free environment with full attention to patient needs
• Apply age-specific criteria in all patient interactions and procedures
• Use critical thinking to address patient concerns and resolve care-related issues
• Verify patient identity using approved identification protocols
• Implement safety and fall precautions and communicate patient needs to team members
• Recognize signs of patient distress and initiate emergency procedures as required
• Document incidents, variances, and unusual circumstances and notify appropriate personnel
• Administer contrast agents following aseptic technique and the five rights of medication administration
• Review patient medications and allergies prior to procedures
• Apply ALARA and Image Gently guidelines to minimize radiation exposure

Service, Productivity & Efficiency
• Demonstrate professionalism and customer service in all interactions
• Maintain high productivity and support overall patient care activities
• Assist with patient transport and collaborate with peers and nursing staff as needed
• Manage patient flow to minimize delays and optimize efficiency
• Provide clear hand-off communication at shift end to ensure continuity of care
• Follow downtime procedures during system failures and report to supervisor for reassignment
• Report equipment malfunctions promptly with complete information
• Maintain clean, organized work areas with appropriate supplies and completed checklists
• Support departmental operations with flexibility and teamwork
• Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION

• Required: Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology Program.
• Preferred: Graduate of an approved Computed Tomography Program.

WORK EXPERIENCE

• Required: 1 year As a Computed Tomography Technologist. or
• Required: 2 years As a Radiologic Technologist. or
• Required: With preferred education, no experience is required. or
• Required: With required and preferred certification, high school diploma or equivalent.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

• Required: ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Upon Hire and
• Required: CMRT - Cert Medical Radiologic Tech Texas Medical Board (TMB). Upon Hire and
