Joan and Pearl’s Kitchen Inc is seeking a skilled and professional Line Cook to join our Culinary team! The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and assist with the service of food, as well as contribute to high-quality presentation and operations at our Corporate location’s onsite restaurant.

Candidates must be able to work Monday – Friday from 7:00 am - 3:00 pm.

Candidates should possess knife skills, food safety knowledge, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include

• Inspecting, sanitizing and maintaining cleanliness within preparation or serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices
• Ensuring freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality
• Ensuring all food items are stored and cooked at correct temperatures
• Preparing and cooking menu items according to recipes and presentation standards
• Performing all Back of House responsibilities
• Baking, roasting, broiling, frying or and steaming meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods
• Observing and testing foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently
• Washing, peeling, cutting, and de-seeding fruits and vegetables to prepare them for consumption
• Carving and trimming meats for hot or cold service
• Handling food with proper safety procedures, including storage, handling, and sanitation
• Ensuring timely delivery of meals to service areas while maintaining quality standards
• Adhering to all health and safety guidelines related to food handling and kitchen operations
• Supporting other kitchen staff during busy periods, including all catering or special events
• Monitoring inventory and communicate supply needs to management
• Setting up and maintaining cleanliness of assigned stations with all necessary supplies and ingredients
• Sorting and removing trash and places it in designated pickup areas

The successful candidate will play a key role in contributing to our customer satisfaction and company goals.

Skills

• Proven prior experience in food preparation within a restaurant setting as a line cook or prep cook
• Strong knife skills and proficiency in meal preparation
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Attention to detail in food presentation
• Strong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate with others
• Maintain a positive and professional approach with colleagues and customers
• Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
• Culinary training or certification a plus!

Education and experience

• High School Graduate or equivalent
• Certification of Culinary training or apprenticeship is preferred.
• Verifiable restaurant experience of 1 year or more
