Requisition No: 877553 Agency: Department of Health Working Title: INTERVIEWING CLERK - 64061069 Pay Plan: Career Service Position Number: 64061069 Salary: $34,760.00 - $36,498.00 annually Posting Closing Date: 06/23/2026 Total Compensation Estimator ToolOPEN COMPETITIVE Your Specific Responsibilities: Incumbent serves as an Interview Clerk for the Dental Clinic performing duties which include but are not limited to tasks which involve work assignments that require independent judgment to accomplish. Incumbent must have knowledge of routine procedures for the Health Department and departmental operations. This position includes but is not limited to answering phones, scheduling clients, checking in clients for appointments, updating financial registrations, researching insurance coverages, keeping demographics updated, reminder calls, working as a team with co-workers to ensure all work is completed timely and accurately, training of co-workers. Working with dental encounters for billing in a timely manner. Must be highly motivated and ability to multi-task while providing exceptional customer service. Manages schedules for providers, maintains HIPAA compliance at all times, participates in staff meetings and various other task related to this position. This position reports to the Office Operations Manager.
CLIENT CONTACT DUTIES:
Greet and provide excellent customer service to all clients/visitors Answer phones; route calls appropriately, provide information, schedule/change/cancel appointments Review financial data to ensure client is up to date prior to any services; complete Registration/Updates as required Confirm all necessary documentation, pre-authorizations, referrals, insurance information and lab work are ready prior to the patient arriving for an appointment. Confirm appointments Offer referrals to clients who are not eligible or in need of service prior to our schedules allowing for an appointment Check in clients for their appointments and prepare necessary encounter form and other documents needed Provide appointment reminders and school notes as needed upon check-outDENTAL CLERICAL & OTHER DUTIES:
Usage of various computer programs including but not limited to: HMS, Eaglesoft electronic dental system, Change HealthCare, Microsoft Office Input services in HMS ensuring they match Eaglesoft and the encounter form within 24 hours of services provided Ensure services entered in HMS are billable Ensure all information is updated in Eaglesoft and HMS Complete referrals “beyond our scope of practice” Scan documents as required in HMS/Eaglesoft Send and receive faxes timely Completes “End of Day” each day in Eaglesoft Document and send letters to clients for broken appointments Prepare encounter forms for off-site services as needed Assist with preparation of school sealant billing as needed Position may be responsible for maintaining and balancing a daily cash drawer, for Dental Clients. Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communications.
