SALARY: $41.56 to $54.73 DOQ LOCATION: Chisago County Government Center, Center City, MN SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The Office Manager will provide high‑level administrative and organizational support to the County Attorney’s Office. The office manager will supervise and direct Legal Assistants, Paralegals, and other support staff; coordinate technical and capital equipment needs; manage communication and workflow with criminal‑justice partners and community stakeholders; monitor reporting requirements; and perform additional related duties as assigned. Qualifications & Requirements Prefer Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s Degree with coursework in legal studies or paralegal studies. At least 5 years of applicable work experience, including a minimum of 3 years as a Paralegal. 2+ years of supervisory experience. Some public sector experience preferred. Knowledge Comprehensive knowledge of Minnesota statutes, Minnesota rules of criminal procedure, juvenile court rules, child support guidelines, local ordinances, federal laws, and county policies and procedures, the Minnesota Data Practices Act, and the Record Retention Schedule. Comprehensive knowledge of management principles, budget development, departmental organization, planning, supervision, and training. Considerable knowledge of computers, case‑management systems, data‑processing techniques, and advanced knowledge of current software products for creating and editing templates and macros, and training end users. Considerable knowledge of accounting and budgeting principles for public‑sector delivery. Advanced knowledge of business English, legal terminology, spelling and grammar; legal and general office procedure; and proper formatting for legal documents and filings. Abilities Coordinate workflow taking into account office needs and staff strengths to ensure efficient operation. Plan, organize, and implement financial systems and procedures. Respond and communicate effectively with various professionals and personalities. Work independently and handle stressful situations. Evaluate case‑management software and networking options; implement new software when required. Comply with strict timelines and deadlines pursuant to Minnesota and Federal law. Read, interpret documents and reports, analyze information based on legal principles, formulate recommendations, and prepare concise written reports. Multi‑task, organize workload, set priorities, and maintain confidentiality. Skills High proficiency in oral and written communication. Strong managerial principles and office policy application in directing and administering the County Attorney’s Office. Effective interpersonal skills with people at all levels. Advanced paralegal, legal‑assistant, and general office skills. Advanced computer technology skills. Tools and Equipment Used Telephone, copy machine, facsimile machine, calculator, personal computer, cellular phone, and scanning equipment. Physical Demands Employees frequently sit at a desk for extended periods, reach, operate office equipment, talk, handle objects requiring finger dexterity, and walk or stand. Must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Requires close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Work is frequently performed under time pressure. Work Environment The office environment is generally moderately quiet. Employees may be exposed to hostile, threatening, and potentially violent individuals. Work is performed in an office setting.
