Board Certified Behavior Analyst Newton Public Schools, Newton, Massachusetts Starting Date: Aug 26, 2025 Job Description Department: Student Services FLSA Status: Exempt; Unit A Reports to: Supervisor of Applied Behavior Analysis Summary: The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) provides development and direct supervision of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) programming in the district. Services may include functional behavioral assessment, behavior plan development, individualized skill building curricula, staff and parent training, and consultation to all team members. The BCBA will work both in school settings and in home settings as indicated on IEPs. The schedule is 10am–6pm, allowing service delivery in both settings. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Master’s degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field. Certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Experience working with students who have developmental disorders, autism spectrum disorders, or emotional/behavioral disorders. Experience working with students with behavioral challenges including self‑injury and aggression. Familiarity with curriculum development, Language Arts, Mathematics, and Content Area knowledge, and ability to modify curriculum to align with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and Assessment System. Familiarity with a variety of therapies and the ability to work effectively with people from various treatment perspectives. Ability to handle a multitude of varying and complex issues. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Computer experience. Desired Qualifications: 5 years of experience in the ABA field. 2 years of experience as a BCBA. Certification in a Crisis Management program, or certification as an instructor, or interest in becoming an instructor. Experience in conducting applied research. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities Provide ABA consultation to students at elementary and secondary levels. Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments, write ABA programming, and assess performance via continuous data collection. Provide ongoing review and refinement of ABA programming to meet student IEP goals. Train staff in implementation of programming and oversee home programming. Provide guidance for development of district programs. Manage behavioral crisis situations: model interventions, train staff, develop crisis and behavior support plans, and follow‑up with team and family. Work effectively with team members, professionals, community contacts, school staff, and parents. Maintain consistent, reliable, and punctual attendance to supervise and instruct students. Perform other job‑related duties as needed. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Work Environment: Both school and home settings. Physical Requirements: Physically able to respond (e.g., push, pull, or carry at least 60lbs) to students who are physically unsafe and use physical restraints as part of a de‑escalation process. Physically able to respond to students who have bolted from the building. Maintain a safe learning environment, including moving furniture during crisis situations. Travel between multiple school and home locations.
