Liberation Ventures (LV) is a field builder fueling America’s Black-led racial repair movement. LV supports the ecosystem of organizations working on truth, reconciliation, and reparations in order to build public will for a comprehensive federal financial and nonfinancial reparations program. ABOUT THE POSITION Position Overview We hope to bring on a passionate person to support Aria Florant, the Managing Director, with multiple strategic and operational projects. COMPENSATION $80,000 - $100,000 Role and Responsibilities Manage projects operating out of the office of the Managing Director. These projects will include but are not limited to: Project managing strategic projects; e.g. a report focused on the organization’s racial repair framework, which could include managing research assistants, editors, and other relevant stakeholders. Standing up Liberation Ventures advisory committees, including a grantmaking panel, advisory council, and fiduciary board. Designing and facilitating retreats for the Liberation Ventures team, focused on topics such as work planning, organizational learning, feedback, team building, capacity building, etc. Supporting the hiring process for new LV staff, with a particular focus on sourcing qualified candidates. Supporting LV’s fundraising and development efforts, including identifying new institutional and individual donors as well as opportunities for the Managing Director to introduce the work in new spaces. Developing and conducting research for new ways to tell LV’s story to different audiences. Support will include developing overarching story elements, conducting research to add evidence and rigor to each story, and developing materials in alignment with each story. Support materials development for Liberation Ventures, including impact reports, concept notes, pitch decks, donor and advisor engagement materials, etc. Qualifications Strong understanding of our field of work — racial, economic, and gender justice and their intersections, and the systems and structures that cause ongoing harm in these areas — and experience supporting organizations in these fields by developing and articulating theories of change, theories of action, strategic plans, etc. Experience in management and/or strategy consulting (ideal but not required). Exceptional project management skills; strong attention to detail and equitable, streamlined processes; highly organized and able to manage multiple streams of work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Strong manager of people of all backgrounds and professional experiences; able to see and manage power and privilege dynamics in a group and create working environments where all people are equally valued, feel cared for, and contribute. Strong analytical, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability and willingness to work in a hybrid workplace and travel regularly (once it is safe to do so after the pandemic). Position Type The Liberation Ventures Chief of Staff is a full-time (100% FTE) position. This position will start as a temporary position, with the potential to convert to full time. Compensation PolicyLink offers competitive salaries based on the experience and skills of employees. The starting salary range for the position is $80,000 - $100,000, dependent on experience.
