Teacher - Head Start 26/27 SY Employer: Washington Elementary School District 6, Mountain View, Phoenix, Arizona Job ID: 5687159 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Posting Date: May 04, 2026 Starting Date: Aug 3, 2026 Position Type: Full-Time Salary: $500,000 Per Year Summary Under general direction, incumbent supervises Head Start staff and directs and implements the Head Start program at the school, ensuring compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, laws, district policies, and accreditation requirements. Essential Functions Develops and instructs developmentally appropriate practices and lesson plans aligned with district and state standards. Designs and maintains a creative learning environment and establishes acceptable behavior standards. Conducts ongoing performance assessment and developmental screening. Supervises community Head Start staff, including workload determination, scheduling, performance monitoring, hiring, terminations, evaluations, training, personnel records, and conflict resolution. Interprets licensing regulations, assists with compliance reports for DHS, and ensures facility meets inspection requirements. Creates newsletters, memos, distributes family surveys, analyzes results, and promotes family involvement and communication. Coordinates developmental screening and referral processes, participates in IEP meetings, collaborates with therapists and families. Communicates with all stakeholders to ensure quality services and refers families to community resources. Maintains enrollment, attendance, emergency records, and prepares required administrative reports. Participates in school staff, district, and professional meetings and stays current with policies. Assists in preparing the annual program budget, determines needs, and submits purchase requisitions within guidelines. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree. Valid Arizona teaching certificate (A.R.S § 15-502.B) – Intern, Provisional, Reciprocal, or Standard Early Childhood B‑8; or Elementary K‑8 with Early Childhood B‑8 endorsement; or Elementary 1‑8 with Early Childhood B‑8 endorsement. Structured English Immersion (SEI) requirements. Valid Identity Verified Print (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card. Valid health examination, TB testing, first aid, CPR, and Arizona Food Handler’s License clearance within 30 days of hire. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, or related field. One year of instructional experience. Valid Arizona Department of Transportation driver’s license. Knowledge and Skills Required Understanding of child development and appropriate early childhood curriculum. Knowledge of safety and health issues. Basic budget principles. Implementation of Head Start Performance Standards. Management practices for supervising staff. Bookkeeping practices and procedures. Computer software applications proficiency. Strong communication skills with supervisors, staff, families, and students. Physical Requirements Regularly stand, walk, sit, use hands, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 10 pounds routinely; occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Requires normal vision, including color and peripheral vision. Working Conditions Moderate noise level environment; responsibility for maintaining a safe and supportive environment.
