The special education paraprofessional works under the direction and supervision of a teacher or other designated member of the school staff. The paraprofessional helps special education students acquire the skills and competencies taught by the classroom teacher. Responsibilities Supervise and work with students one-on-one and in small groups. Assist the teacher in the classroom with instructional activities. Lifting, giving physical assistance, and providing support in the lunchroom. Assist with toileting, transportation, and recreational activities throughout the building. Attend regularly to duties assigned for the duration of the assignment. Qualifications Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of self or others.
