Wean Truck Driver

This position involves transporting pigs within our production flow while strictly following animal wellbeing, biosecurity, and safety protocols at all times.

Essential job functions and responsibilities include:

• Adhering to ISF bio-security policy at all times and reporting any violations.
• Adhering to ISF animal wellbeing policy at all times and knowing reporting procedures when an incident occurs.
• Adhering to ISF safety policies and procedures and wearing appropriate safety equipment (PPE) for appropriate tasks and working in a safe manner.
• Safely operating a pickup/fifth wheel combination while transporting hogs.
• Keeping accurate records.
• Moving animals as needed.
• Giving feedback to management.
• Delivery and unloading of pigs at nursery facility from the double deck trailer.
• Maintaining the cleanliness and disinfecting of truck and wean trailer.
• Demeanor should be positive and professional at all times.
• Daily focus should be on welfare of animals, not personal issues.
• Attendance is crucial. Be at work on scheduled days and be ready to drive by the start time given.
• Be friendly, positive, helpful, team-oriented, and respectful to co-workers and management team.
• Flexibility in hours during health and staffing challenges is required.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

• Compliance with Iowa Select Farms safety policies and procedures which includes continuous education to maintain a safe work environment.
• Following Iowa Select Farms animal wellbeing policy at all times and partnering with the Production Well-being team in a timely manner if an incident occurs.

Work environment includes:

• This position is performed primarily outdoors.
• The environment of this position will change daily pending weekly schedule.
• This position will have duties in all facilities of Iowa Select Farms so employees will need to be comfortable working in and being exposed to all facility environments.
• This position may require some tasks to be performed in extreme outside weather conditions.
• The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
• While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations.
• This position will require the ability to sit for long periods of time while driving to and from sites.

Physicality requirements include:

• Required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear.
• Ability to read and write.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and climb over gates up to 48 inches in height.
• Crouching between the double decks in the trailers while loading and unloading pigs.

Position type/expected hours of work:

• This is a full-time position that will typically require at least 40 hours a week.
• Additional availability may be required during staffing challenges.
• Occasional evening hours and weekend work may be required as the job duties demand.

Travel:

• Local travel will be required for this position through the utilization of a company vehicle.

Education, experience, and other qualifications:

• Bilingual: Not required.
• Education/Experience: Ideal candidate will have livestock hauling experience but is not required.
• Qualifications: Candidate must possess a valid driver's license and good driving record.
