Wheel Loader/Terminal Operator

Responsibilities Operate a front-end loader to load trucks with granular fertilizer. Conduct maintenance and housekeeping jobs as instructed. Fully participate in the company Safety Program and attend daily pre-shift meetings. Perform all duties in compliance with OSHA, company safety, and environmental regulations, including wearing appropriate PPE. Perform deckhand responsibilities such as securing barges, reading drafts, opening/closing/removing/placing lids, tying off barges, etc. Operate a skid loader inside a barge during the final stage of unloading. Set up and operate conveyor systems where applicable, ensuring the correct product is directed to the correct storage area. Clean up the barge after unloading by sweeping or shoveling. Load railcars and trucks to specifications where applicable. Complete documentation promptly, accurately and legibly. Operate a variety of heavy equipment and perform preventive maintenance where applicable. Assist in general housekeeping of the entire work area. Requirements Education: High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience: None required. Preferred: 1 year’s experience working in an industrial environment with a dependable work record. Basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide). Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of people within and outside the organization. Ability to complete documentation requirements. Follow direction and use logical thought process to interpret oral and written instructions and troubleshoot problems. Work well independently and within a team environment. Use tools appropriate for the assigned task. Maintain focus on exceptional customer service, both internally and externally. Physical Demands & Requirements Balance constantly/continuously. Bend, stoop, twist, crouch, crawl, kneel and squat frequently. Climb stairs and ladders to significant heights; work in confined spaces. Concentrate without becoming distracted constantly/continuously. Distinguish grain samples by color, odor and damage characteristics. Recognize specific odors using nose. Enter information into a computer. Grasp and reach frequently. Lift/push/pull 50 lbs. occasionally to continuously depending on location. Wear and utilize all applicable PPE. Pass required testing under FRA and DOT for this position where applicable. Safely walk on barge surfaces and around water; walk on railcars, open gates, operate vibrators. Work extended hours, weekends, holidays and/or alternate shifts as needed. Work outdoors in extreme weather conditions; high dust levels around grain and bulk products. Acutely aware of surroundings and able to quickly adjust to a signal or change.
