In-House Accountant

Role Description: La Plaza Tapatia is seeking an organized, detail-oriented In-House Accountant to join our team. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Columbus, Ohio. The In-House Accountant will manage day-to-day accounting operations, maintain accurate financial records, and provide financial reporting and analysis to support leadership decisions. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting knowledge, excellent Microsoft Excel skills, and experience working in a fast-paced business environment. Previous experience in retail, grocery, or hospitality is preferred. Responsibilities: Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable. Prepare and record general ledger entries. Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, cash transactions, and daily store sales. Review and process vendor invoices, payments, and account statements. Maintain accurate records for inventory and vendor transactions. Monitor inventory costs and investigate financial discrepancies. Prepare financial statements, reports, and Excel spreadsheets. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. Support payroll preparation and maintain related accounting records. Assist with monthly and year-end closing procedures. Support tax compliance, audits, and other financial reporting requirements. Collaborate with store management to improve financial processes and internal controls. Communicate with vendors, employees, management, and outside accounting professionals. Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as needed. Qualifications: Strong accounting knowledge, including general ledger management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations. Experience preparing financial reports, budgets, and variance analyses. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with financial data. Experience using accounting software such as QuickBooks or a similar platform. Understanding of tax compliance, basic audit procedures, and financial regulations. Excellent attention to detail, organization, and accuracy. Ability to identify and investigate financial discrepancies. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Ability to handle confidential financial and employee information responsibly. Spanish-language proficiency is preferred. Previous accounting experience in retail, grocery, supermarkets, or hospitality is preferred.
