Position: Customs Entry Writer
Location: Jamaica, NY Company/Industry: Well-established international freight forwarder Schedule: Mon-Fri On-Site Only, 1st shift Salary: $60 - 80K/yr, depending on experience (flexible for the right candidate) + benefits Type: Direct HireResponsibilities:
- Prepare and file air and ocean customs entries in compliance with 19 CFR and CBP regulations.
- Audit commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and arrival notices for accuracy and completeness.
- Classify products using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTSUS) and calculate applicable duties, taxes, and fees.
- Manage FDA Prior Notice submissions, monitor CBP/PGA holds and releases, and handle TTB regulatory requirements.
- Support wine and spirits imports under the Craft Beverage Modernization Act (CBMA), ensuring accurate documentation and tax allocation.
- Coordinate with importers, air/ocean carriers, and warehouses to ensure smooth clearance and timely cargo delivery; update clients on entry status and compliance matters.
- Maintain entry files, assist with post-summary corrections (PSC), protests, and support internal audits.
- 3-5+ years of customs entry writing experience. Background in the beverage, wine, or spirits logistics sector is strongly preferred.
- Solid working knowledge of CBP, FDA, and TTB import procedures and regulations.
- Proficiency with ACE / ABI systems (Descartes, CargoWise, or similar) and Microsoft Office
