Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive care on a Medical Surgical stroke stepdown unit. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing adult patients with diverse medical conditions requiring detailed monitoring and intervention.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patient vital signs, symptoms, and medical histories to develop personalized care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, ensuring accuracy and safety.
• Monitor patients for signs of stroke, altered mental status, renal issues, COPD, CHF, and other common diagnoses.
• Utilize specialized equipment such as IV pumps, feeding tubes, and N/G tubes to support patient treatment.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver holistic patient care and coordinate discharge planning.
• Document patient progress, interventions, and responses accurately in the EMR system.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid NY Registered Nurse license in active status.
• Demonstrate at least 2 years of recent Medical Surgical experience with stroke stepdown exposure.
• Possess current BLS, NIHSS, and NIH certifications; NIH is required for this unit.
• Have a minimum of 75 miles from the facility location, with a readiness to float to different units when needed.
• Hold a current driver's license matching demographics and have verifiable travel experience.
• Be able to provide a NURSYS report and relevant licenses verification.
