Registered Nurse (RN) - Stroke/Neuro PCU

Scheduling Details and Charting

This position includes the following scheduling details:

Shift hours: 3x12s, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM
Charting: Experience with EPIC is required
Weekend Requirement: May be every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block
Requests for time off (RTO): All requests must be included with the submission
Call Off Policy: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
Holiday Requirement: One holiday must be worked during each 13-week contract (Christmas RTO not approved)
First-Time Travelers: Accepted, although travel experience is preferred
Local Candidates: Accepted with radius rule criteria
Pending License: Accepted if the candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state; otherwise, must have an active Virginia State or Compact RN license

Required Certifications

ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
BLS (Basic Life Support)
NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Required Clinical Skills

Cardiac monitoring and emergency response
Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
Medication administration including cardiac drips (no titration)
Respiratory support: nasal cannula, oxygen administration, non-invasive airway management
Experience in Neuro PCU
Knowledge of isolation precautions and telemetry settings across various units

Unit Details and Floating

Staffing Ratios: Typically 1:5, with a goal of 1:4
Unit Description: The telemetry PCU specializes in the care and management of patients with hospitalist medicine including stroke and neurology patients
IV Drips Managed: Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low-dose dopamine/dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitro, Bumex, Lasix, Lidocaine, Ketamine
Remote telemetry with tele sitting implemented to enhance Patient Care Tech coverage
Floating: Required within the employee's skill set
