MPA Career Services Coordinator

MPA Career Services Coordinator Position in the Department of SPIA‑Public Administration & Policy at the University of Georgia. The role serves as the primary representative for providing career services to MPA students across Athens and Gwinnett campuses. Employment Details Type: Regular Employee Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (occasional evening and nighttime work during travel) Salary: $50,000 – $55,000+, commensurate with experience Location: Athens, GA Responsibilities – Career Services & Internship Services Advise MPA students on career and internship opportunities. Facilitate on‑campus information sessions with employers to provide job and internship openings. Manage the MPA Mentor Program, including alumni recruitment, mentor‑mentee matching, assessment processes, and follow‑up communication. Coordinate with and support the MPA Mentor Program and the Carl Vinson Institute of Government Professional Skills Seminar to enhance professional development. Coordinate resume, cover letter, mock interview, and other professional development workshops. Update and maintain the university website displaying internship and job announcements and other career resources. Lead assessment of internships for program graduations, determining exemption eligibility based on prior work experience. Collect systematic data on internship supervisor and employer satisfaction; produce reports for program assessment. Collaborate with the SPIA Career Services Coordinator to manage and track SPIA‑funded internship opportunities (e.g., Experiential Learning and Ralston internships). Coordinate employer relations among students and alumni; build and expand the MPA alumni network. Support the MPA Associate Director’s work with the MPA Advisory Board, organizing meetings and coordinating student engagement. Assist with alumni events. Responsibilities – Recruitment Support all MPA‑related recruitment efforts for Athens and Gwinnett campuses, the Double Dawgs, and MPA/JD programs. Recruit Double Dawgs and students for the undergraduate minor program, presenting to undergraduate classes and attending on‑campus recruitment events. Attend off‑campus graduate recruitment fairs at universities across the Southeast. Assist in the execution of recruitment and orientation events such as Fall and Spring Visitation Days, Gwinnett information sessions, webinars, and socialization activities. Preferred Qualifications Experience in higher‑education career services, preferably in a graduate‑level program. Strong knowledge of internship management and employer relations. Excellent communication, facilitation, and workshop‑delivery skills. Computer literacy, including MS Office, database management, and customer‑marketing applications. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent and at least 2 years of professional experience. Physical Demands Lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
