Summary: The Surgical Technologist is that part of the Operating Room team who provides and performs technical skills under the direct supervision of a physician or a registered nurse. This person assists the registered nurse in creating a safe supportive and comforting environment for the patient in surgery. Coordinates the planning, replenishment, and delivery of Operating Room supplies and equipment. Organizes, directs, and controls inventory levels, stock replenishment, charges and order placement to optimize PAR levels within the Operating Room. Responsibilities: Patient and families are served in providing direct patient care services. Perform duties and conducts interpersonal relationships with co-workers, physicians and other departments in a manner designed to project a positive image of the department and hospital. Nursing staff and patient are served by providing supplies and equipment for patient use in a timely manner Qualifications EDUCATION REQUIREMENT High School Diploma required. Completion of a Surgical Technologist training program. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT Three years (3) Surgical Technologist experience and/or three (3) years’ experience in the management of data for purchasing and materials management computerized inventory systems in either a supply or operating room environment. LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION Certified Surgical Technologist preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS Good written, oral communication and analytical skills required. Ability to research, interpret and develop recommendations. Excellent organizational skills. Detail oriented. Ability to manage, organize, prioritize, multi-task and adapt to changing priorities. Ability to meet challenging deadlines. Ability to work autonomously and with minimal oversight. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and medical terminology.
