Project Accountant

Project AccountantSargent & Lundy is currently seeking a Project Accountant to work on project setup, billing, and accounts receivable activities. This individual will work as part of our Corporate Finance team and report to the Project Accounting Supervisor. The Project Accountant supports all billing related responsibilities for local and international engineering projects.Sargent & Lundy is a global leader in power and energy consulting, where innovation meets integrity, diversity, and a commitment to quality. The position's responsibilities will encompass, but not be limited to, the following:Perform setup for customers, projects, contracts, and inter-company billing for both domestic and foreign projects in the Costpoint systemWork on projects that include multi-currency billing, foreign taxes, withholding, and retentionAssist with monthly Inter-Company billing processingMaintain responsibility for high levels of accuracy and completeness of bill preparation to ensure that bills are in agreement with client billing arrangements and system recordsPrepare invoice packages for approval by Project Managers, including all applicable backup, as required per contract termsSubmit invoice packages to clients per contract terms, often through online portalsMaintain project invoice/billing files and all supporting documents associated with invoicing/billingPerform project close out and reconciliationAssist with reconciliations of Open Billing Detail to General LedgerResearch and resolve billing and payment discrepanciesPerform additional billing duties as assignedThis position allows for a hybrid work schedule with a mix of work spent in our downtown Chicago office and working remotely from home.QualificationsThis position requires:Bachelor's degree (preferred) or an associate's degree with at least 3 years of related experience in project cost accounting4+ years of experienceExperience with Workday is requiredStrong experience in MS Excel and Adobe Acrobat requiredExcellent data entry skillsDetail oriented team player comfortable in a fast paced, dynamic environmentWell-developed analytical and problem-solving skillsProven ability to prioritize responsibilities and juggle multiple tasksStrong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skillsAbility to maintain strict confidentialityExperience with foreign currency billing is a plusOpen to occasional overtimeWe do not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. for this position.Award-Winning BenefitsAt Sargent & Lundy, we care about the health and well-being of our employees.
