Academic OB/GYN Hospitalist12-Hour Shifts | 14 Shifts per Month | No On-Call Duties | Academic Medicine | Milwaukee, Wisconsin

A nationally recognized academic medical center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible OB/GYN Physician to join its expanding Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology as an Academic OB/GYN Hospitalist .

This is an excellent opportunity for an OB/GYN who wants to remain clinically active in high- and low-risk obstetrics, emergent gynecology, and surgical care while stepping away from the traditional demands of private practice. The hospitalist model provides a predictable shift-based schedule with no on-call responsibilities , allowing physicians to fully disconnect when they are off.

You'll practice at a major statewide referral center with one of Wisconsin's only Level IV Obstetrical Units , directly connected to a Level IV NICU , while teaching the next generation of physicians in a highly collaborative academic environment.

Clinical Practice

The Academic Hospitalist will provide comprehensive hospital-based obstetric and gynecologic care at the Birth Center and Emergency Department.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Manage high-risk obstetric patients
• Manage low-risk obstetric patients
• Provide hospital-based labor and delivery care
• Evaluate and manage emergent gynecologic conditions
• Perform surgical procedures when clinically necessary
• Collaborate closely with Labor & Delivery nurses
• Work alongside midwives
• Coordinate care with attending physicians and other hospital staff
• Participate in a highly integrated multidisciplinary care environment

The hospital serves as a statewide referral center , providing exposure to patients across a broad range of clinical complexity.

Schedule & Work-Life Balance

You'll join a substantial Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology consisting of:

• 26 faculty and staff physicians
• 7 Advanced Practice Providers
• Clinical operations across 12 diverse practice settings

The division provides care throughout affiliated academic hospitals, children's healthcare facilities, and the VA system.

This creates a large network of physician colleagues and clinical resources while maintaining a strong emphasis on collaborative, team-based care.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess:

• MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree from an accredited institution
• Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Obstetrics & Gynecology
• Wisconsin medical license or eligibility to obtain Wisconsin licensure
• Strong interest in hospital-based obstetric and gynecologic care
• Ability to manage both high- and low-risk obstetric patients
• Ability to manage emergent gynecologic conditions
• Interest in working within an academic and multidisciplinary environment
• Commitment to teaching and mentoring physicians in training
