As Litigation & Employment Counsel, you’ll drive litigation in state and federal court and also help advise the People team on employment matters. You'll partner cross-functionally to help Checkr manage risk and reach its business and fairness goals.What you’ll doManage/execute all aspects of litigation and other matters (e.g., subpoenas, demands) Conduct factual investigation, case analysis, exposure analysisReview pleadings and other litigation-related documentsLead discovery process and fact gathering, including witness preparationWork with outside counsel to implement nuanced and efficient litigation strategy Provide compliance counseling to the operations teams to mitigate litigation risk Help advise People/HR across the employment lifecycle, including leaves, accommodations, wage and hour, worker classification, and disputesBuild cross-functional relationships to strengthen partnerships across the Company to identify and implement product and process improvementsDevelop an understanding of the Fair Credit Reporting Act and related state laws and how they apply to Checkr products and servicesWhat you bringJD degree and CA bar admission in good standing 5+ years of substantive litigation experience, including employment mattersExperience with Fair Credit Reporting Act, criminal law, or international employment counseling is a plusInterest and enthusiasm towards new technologies and leveraging AIAbility to manage multiple projects independently, with strong attention to detail, sound judgment, humility, and a good sense of humorA pragmatic strategist who assesses risk in the context of the company’s goals and communicates them clearly to business stakeholdersAn A-player mindset with a strong bias for action: you raise the bar, move with urgency, stay resilient through ambiguity, and take ownership to deliver meaningful outcomes.Pay Transparency DisclosureWe use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop ranges for our roles and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
