Position Overview As an ELA Teacher, you will drive exceptional student learning, ensuring all meet or exceed ambitious standards for academic and social-emotional growth and achievement. In addition to planning and implementing a rigorous standards‑aligned ELA curriculum, you will coach and support a cohort of advisees throughout their time at Ednovate and actively contribute to a positive, solutions‑oriented team and school culture. This full‑time, exempt position reports to the principal. Responsibilities Master your content: develop and implement cutting‑edge digital curriculum powered by the Common Core Standards, ensuring all students across all identity groups have access to a high‑quality, personalized college‑prep experience. Advance students’ independent and collaborative reading, writing, speaking and critical thinking skills needed for effective communication and engagement with diverse texts and ideas, preparing them for the rigor of college coursework while igniting a lifelong passion for literature. Implement best‑in‑class personalized instruction: create and execute rigorous lesson and unit plans through backward planning; regularly track student mastery through Ednovate’s data systems and use a data‑driven approach to adapt instruction. Lead students in developing their passion and purpose through project‑based learning opportunities and provide clear, actionable feedback to drive continuous growth. Build transformative relationships with students: mentor a group of students throughout their high‑school experience, supporting advisees in meeting yearly promotion requirements through guided reflection and one‑on‑one conferences. Create and maintain a caring and accountable student culture: establish clear, consistent, logical class structures, routines and expectations aligned with our student culture model; foster community through relationship‑building and hold high expectations to support student achievement; create urgency, optimism and engagement among students. Contribute positively to the team: build positive relationships with teammates, lean into vulnerability to build trust, engage in difficult conversations and debate to surface the best ideas, drive clarity in decision‑making, seek, implement and offer feedback for individual and team growth, and commit to collective results. Qualifications A California Single Subject Teaching Credential or Out of State Teaching Credential, preferred; clear path to receiving a teaching credential within a year, required. 2+ years of teaching experience in a relevant subject area with a strong record of improving student learning, strongly preferred. Significant content expertise in ELA, required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences (colleagues, students, families), required.
