Job Title: Student TA - DES-230 Narrative I (Savage, Cagle, Morrison), F26 Reports to : Eric Cagle Class Times Lecture: Wednesday – 2:00 - 3:20 p.m. LAB A: Friday 10:30 – 12:20 p.m. LAB B: Friday 9:00 – 10:50 a.m. Essential Functions A Teaching Assistant (TA) is expected to assist the instructor in the classroom as requested by the instructor. Responsibilities may include equipment setup and/or operation (e.g., running slide decks during lectures), facilitating student presentations, answering student questions during labs, pre-grading assessments, submitting attendance sheets, etc. TAs are expected to assist with grading outside the classroom, meet regularly with the instructor, and may be required to meet with students outside class to answer questions as needed. Other duties as assigned by the instructor. TAs will meet weekly with the instructor for performance feedback and duty modification and will receive a full evaluation once per semester. Duties and Responsibilities Classroom set up and tear-down tables during class; Making copies for students Grading and giving actionable feedback on student work Assisting students in labs and during published office hours At least 2 hours a week. Meeting students online, if required Grading lab-reports using the provided guidelines Uploading feedback onto Moodle Providing constructive feedback in the grading to the students Timely delivery of graded reports/assignments and maintaining consistency and clarity in grading Accountable for tracking and reporting the amount of time worked Qualifications/Competencies Successfully completed DES 330 with a B or higher Access to a laptop during lecture and/or lab as needed Possess a positive attitude toward learning and willingness to help others excel Be comfortable interacting with other students on an instructional level as a mentor Arrive on time and be prepared to attend with complete focus during work hours Comfortable with multiple aspects of Narrative Design, Twine, English composition, and other narrative design techniques and methods Able to give critique in a professional manner Reliable, punctual, and invested in the success of their fellow students Be able to work independently Expected dates of employment: August 31 – December 13, 2026 Expected number of hours per week: 8 – 10 Once again, students are not permitted to work during any time when they are scheduled for a class. Wage Range: $17.13 - 18.25 per hour , depending on number of terms worked at DigiPen Requirements to Apply: Resume Current Semester Academic Schedule Working Conditions: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, and/or crouching; and fine finger dexterity. May need to lift up to 25 lbs. Generally, the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing.
