Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical/Surgical unit position requiring Epic proficiency, remote telemetry experience, and a GA or compact RN license.

Details

• Hospital-based Medical/Surgical unit with remote telemetry monitoring
• Patient population spans adolescents to geriatrics with general medical/surgical diagnoses
• 38-bed unit with an average daily census of 33
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within the facility and scope of practice as needed
• No on-call requirements
• Epic EMR experience is required; Pyxis and SBAR communication framework also in use

Requirements

• Active GA or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of Medical/Surgical nursing experience required
• Epic EMR proficiency required

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

• Navy blue scrubs required
• RTO is capped at 7 days for the assignment; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
• RTO blackout dates apply during Spring Break (April 4–12)
• Holiday coverage is required: if one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work all of them; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work two of them — major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
• Travelers must have been away from all facilities within this health system for at least one full year before returning as a traveler
• No schedule change requests or alternate shift requests are permitted — the posted night shift is firm
• Two supervisory references (manager level or above; charge nurse references are not accepted) are strongly preferred for consideration
