Position Details: must have CA LVN License

Hours/Week: 30 hours weekly

Schedule: Monday-Friday (On Call/ Can lead to full time)

The School LPN/LVN identifies and treats health disorders among students in the school setting. The School LPN/LVN provides instruction for the student’s general wellbeing and disease prevention. The School LPN/LVN monitors the student’s physical conditions in the school setting and refer the student to appropriate resources as needed. The work of the School LPN/LVN is performed in compliance with his/her LPN/LVN scope of practice and according to state education codes.

Minimum Requirements:

• Current nursing license for the state in which the nurse practices

• One year prior professional nursing experience in school setting preferred

• Pediatric experience preferred

• Considerable knowledge of medical disorders and treatment

• Considerable knowledge of child growth and development

• Knowledge of public health problems and procedures for treatment in coordination with other health and social service agencies

• Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations affecting the delivery of school health services

• Understands the school organization and the community served

• Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice

• Current CPR if applicable

• TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

• Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)

• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age
