Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Med/Tele unit. This position is ideal for a team player who is committed to providing quality care to patients in a rural healthcare setting. Candidates should be prepared to work in an environment that significantly relies on traveling nurses.

Position Overview

The Registered Nurse will be responsible for delivering patient care in a Med/Tele unit, managing patient assignments, and collaborating with medical staff to ensure the best outcomes for the community. The role requires adaptability, strong communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients with conditions such as CHF, diabetes, pneumonia, and CKD.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, including reading telemetry strips.
• Administer medications and manage IV drips, specifically Heparin, as needed.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop patient care plans.
• Participate in unit orientation and mentorship for new staff members.
• Float to all Med/Surg units and PCU as required.

Scheduling Details

• 36 hours per week or 36/48 hours bi-weekly availability.
• Shifts are 12 hours long, with a schedule aligned to the facility's needs; block scheduling is not accommodated.
• Every other weekend and holiday shifts are mandatory.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 18 months of recent Med/Tele experience required.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications are necessary.
• Excellent communication and time management skills are essential for success in this role.
• Experience in a rural hospital setting is preferred.

Support Staff

• Patient care technicians (PCTs) will be available, providing support at a ratio of 12:1.
• Charge nurses and nurse supervisors, along with nurse educators, will be present to offer guidance.

Additional Information

• Orientation and training will include shadow shifts to familiarize with unit protocols.
• Current charting systems being used include Paragon, with a transition to Epic planned for future implementation.
