Engineering Director, Preanalytics Solutions

Abbott seeks an Engineering Director to lead global systems engineering, software engineering, architecture, cybersecurity, cloud, and quality organizations for the AlinIQ preanalytics portfolio. The role involves defining technology strategy for next-generation laboratory automation solutions and partnering across product, regulatory, and commercial teams.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute long-term technology strategy and architecture roadmap for preanalytics portfolio
• Lead modernization of legacy hardware and software platforms across distributed global development teams
• Oversee development of workflow orchestration, automation control, robotics integration, and interoperability capabilities
• Drive implementation of DevOps, DevSecOps, CI/CD, and quality engineering best practices
• Advance AI, machine learning, and intelligent automation initiatives to improve laboratory efficiency and throughput

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related technical discipline
• 15+ years progressive software engineering and technology leadership experience
• 10+ years leading large global engineering organizations across software, systems, architecture, cybersecurity, cloud, and DevOps
• 5+ years managing onshore and offshore development teams
• Proven success delivering complex hardware-software integrated systems in diagnostics, healthcare, or regulated industries
• Deep expertise in microservices, cloud-native, edge computing, and hybrid cloud architectures
• Strong knowledge of secure software development lifecycle, threat modeling, and cybersecurity governance
