In addition, The Binding Site is an active and influential contributor to the broader scientific community.The Binding Site VT specializes in the production of polyclonal antibodies, primarily in sheep, and is a subsidiary of a larger diagnostic company based in England. We currently have a full-time, 40-hour position available for an Animal Husbandry Technician on our USDA registered sheep farm and laboratory in Benson, VT.Discover Impactful Work:Carry out daily feeding regimes of all animals on the farmRoutine and non-routine animal treatmentsParticipate in animal sorting or movementParticipate in herding and transfer of animals between farm sitesParticipate in the breeding/lambing programAssist in keeping all housing buildings to USDA standardsWork in conjunction with the Attending Veterinarian, where requiredEnsure all records are completed daily and accuratelyAny other requirements regarding the welfare and maintenance of animals, housing areas, and production areasKeys to Success:High school diploma1+ year of work experience requiredKnowledge and experience of working with livestock preferredKnowledge and experience of breeding/lambing preferredValid driving license requiredExcellent communication and organizational skills (written and verbal)Able to communicate at all levelsWork in a team settingAbility to multitask and prioritize workloadsAbility to proactively problem solveAttention to detailWork autonomouslyPhysical Requirements / Work Environment:Dependability, reliability, and comfortable working in any weatherMust be flexible due to the unexpected nature of working with animals and on a farmWorking one weekend day is needed as part of the animal feeding staff rotationLift up to 50 pounds +/-Lifting, carrying, pushing, pullingReaching, twisting, turningWalking on uneven, wet, slippery surfacesBenefits:We offer competitive remuneration, annual incentive plan bonus, healthcare, and a range of employee benefits.
