Civil Engineer

Duties
Analyze effectiveness of engineering projects within a forest or natural resource management area.
Direct or review the preparation of complete and detailed project plans, specifications, and cost estimates for civil engineering projects.
Provide technical guidance to engineers, technicians, and contractors in the planning and management of civil engineering projects.
Participate in the development of strategic plans involving program, project, budget, and organizational elements.
Negotiate settlement of differences for all construction contracts under engineering and recommend a basis for satisfactory settlements to contracting officer in formal contract construction.
Implement and execute project plans and ensure quality, quantity, and coordination of all work performed for the engineering program area(s) assigned.
Perform supervisory responsibilities 20% of the time. Plan the work to be accomplished by the unit, assign work to employees, and establish production or quality standards for the unit's work.
