Fund Accountant

Location: Beaumont, TX
Pay Rate: $26.64 per hour
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Schedule: Full-Time, Onsite

LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a Fund Accountant for a contract-to-hire opportunity with a client organization in the Beaumont, Texas area. This position supports the accounting and financial operations of a multi-site nonprofit organization and serves as a key resource for budgeting, financial reporting, payroll oversight, internal controls, audits, and operational accounting activities.

The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting expertise, experience managing multiple funds and entities, and the ability to collaborate with stakeholders across various locations while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with established policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

• Manage accounting operations for multiple locations and funds.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and supporting schedules.
• Monitor general ledger activity and ensure accurate financial recordkeeping.
• Assist with budget preparation and provide ongoing budget-to-actual analysis.
• Perform account reconciliations, journal entry review, and financial analysis.
• Coordinate payroll-related activities and ensure proper remittance of payroll withholdings.
• Maintain vendor records, including 1099 reporting documentation.
• Monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general bookkeeping functions.
• Assist with audit preparation and serve as a liaison to external auditors.
• Support banking, treasury, and financial administration activities.

Internal Controls & Compliance

• Apply GAAP and fund accounting principles.
• Ensure internal controls are maintained and operating effectively.
• Review financial processes and recommend improvements when appropriate.
• Support compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of financial and personnel information.

Operations & Stakeholder Support

• Partner with leadership and site stakeholders regarding financial performance and reporting.
• Assist with insurance, contract, and vendor administration processes.
• Provide guidance and training related to accounting systems, budgeting, and financial procedures.
• Support special projects and process improvement initiatives.
• Review and provide feedback on work completed by junior accounting staff.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field with an accounting concentration.
• Minimum of 2 years of professional accounting experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
• Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, budgeting, and financial reporting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Preferred

• Experience with fund accounting, nonprofit accounting, faith-based organizations, educational institutions, or multi-entity accounting environments.
• Experience supporting audits and internal control processes.
• Prior experience reviewing, mentoring, or training accounting staff.
• Experience with payroll systems and accounting software platforms.

Additional Requirements

• Reliable transportation and ability to travel locally as needed.
• Ability to work onsite in Beaumont, TX.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
