We are seeking an experienced Logistics and Inventory Manager to own the cost, service levels, and integrity of Carbon's global goods flow. Reporting into the Operations organization, you will manage all inbound and outbound freight for Carbon’s customers and suppliers. You will also own the accuracy, compliance, and control of Carbon inventory globally. This is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for balancing cost and service, building scalable logistics and inventory practices, and ensuring full compliance with international trade and dangerous goods regulations. You will lead a team of inventory and logistics staff and partner closely across Production, Strategic Sourcing, Planning, Quality, Finance, Sales and our external partners. This role will be onsite 5 days a week (Mon - Fri) and will spend time at Carbon's Thomas Road, Santa Clara and Borregas Avenue, Sunnyvale locations. What You Will Do Freight and Transportation Management Own the cost and service levels for all Carbon freight: inbound from suppliers, inbound to Carbon sites, and outbound to customers, across domestic and international lanes. Manage relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and 3PLs, including rate negotiation, performance reviews, and SLA management. Optimize mode, lane, and carrier selection to balance landed cost, transit time, and reliability, and to support on‑time delivery commitments to customers. Establish and track logistics KPIs (cost per shipment, on‑time delivery, damage/claims, freight as a percentage of revenue) and drive continuous improvement against them. Inventory Management and Control Own the accuracy, availability, and integrity of all Carbon inventory across all internal and external sites and locations. Establish and run a robust cycle count program and standard inventory practices to maintain a high level of accuracy and audit readiness. Define and enforce standard processes for receiving, put‑away, picking, packing, kitting, and shipping, as well as for handling returns, scrap, and obsolescence. Maintain inventory accuracy in Oracle and reconcile physical counts to system records, investigating and resolving root causes of discrepancies. Trade Compliance and Dangerous Goods Ensure full compliance with international trade regulations, including import/export controls, classification (HTS/ECCN), country of origin, duties, and required documentation. Ensure compliant handling, packaging, labeling, and shipping of hazardous materials and dangerous goods (e.g., IATA, IMDG, DOT) for resins and related materials. Maintain accurate records and partner with Finance, Legal, and EH&S to manage customs, duties, and regulatory reporting obligations. Team Leadership and Cross‑Functional Collaboration Lead, mentor, and develop a team of inventory and logistics staff, setting priorities and building scalable processes as Carbon grows. Partner closely with Strategic Sourcing, Planning, Procurement, Production, Quality, Field Service, Sales, and Finance to align supply, inventory, and delivery plans. Coordinate with contract manufacturing partners and 3PLs on inventory positioning, freight, and distribution of resins to customers. Communicate cost, service, risk, and compliance status clearly to leadership and cross‑functional stakeholders. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Business, or a related field. 8+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, and/or inventory management, preferably in a hardware, capital equipment, or manufacturing environment, with experience leading a team. Demonstrated ownership of freight cost and service levels across inbound and outbound, domestic and international, including carrier and 3PL management. Hands‑on experience building and running inventory control programs, including cycle counts, and driving high inventory accuracy in an ERP system. Working knowledge of international trade regulations (import/export controls, classification, customs documentation) is a must. Working knowledge of regulations for shipping hazardous materials / dangerous goods (e.g., IATA, IMDG, DOT) is a must. Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to drive cost, service, and accuracy improvements. Excellent communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization. Bonus Qualifications Experience supporting a transition of manufacturing or distribution in‑house, or starting up new logistics and inventory operations. Experience working with contract manufacturers and distributed (multi‑site) inventory networks. Relevant certifications such as APICS/ASCM (CPIM, CSCP, CLTD), IATA Dangerous Goods, or a customs/trade compliance certification. Familiarity with chemicals/resins or other regulated materials supply chains. Experience in a startup or fast‑paced, high‑growth technology environment. In order to maintain equitable internal pay practices, we aim to hire new employees near the midpoint of $172,000 - taking into account your experience, work location, certifications, and the unique skills you bring to the role.
