Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Correctional Med/Surg position requiring at least 2 years of acute care and correctional experience, with mandatory floating across Cook County facilities.

Details

• Correctional facility setting in Cook County, Illinois
• Med/Surg unit within a correctional environment
• Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend (2 weekends per month) required
• No block scheduling accommodations available
• This is a mandatory float facility — all clinicians are required to float at the facility's discretion, potentially to units outside their primary area of competency
• Floating may occur to locations up to 50 miles from the home facility, with as little as 2 hours' notice before a shift
• Charting via Cerner
• Free parking available on a first-come, first-serve basis
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required — pending licenses not accepted
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care Med/Surg experience required
• Prior correctional nursing experience required
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Proof of COVID vaccination required — no exceptions

Additional Information

• When floated outside of primary competency, a team-based care model is used for support
• RTO is limited to 5 days maximum per contract, with no more than 2 consecutive days off at a time
• RTO on weekends will not be approved
• No RTO on holidays or on the day immediately before or after a holiday
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Local candidates within a 75-mile radius of the facility are eligible to apply
