Associate Attorney

A well-established Texas law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to advise local governmental entities, including cities, utility districts, emergency services districts, and other special districts. Their attorneys serve as trusted advisors on matters ranging from governance and contracts to development, regulatory compliance, elections, public finance, and administrative proceedings. Public law experience is NOT required but transactional or contracts law is. They're willing to train attorneys who enjoy client interaction, problem-solving, and transactional work while making a direct impact on the communities they serve! About the Opportunity The attorney will work closely with governmental clients, consultants, developers, engineers, and other stakeholders to provide practical legal guidance and help clients achieve their operational and strategic goals. Public sector or municipal law experience is preferred, but not required. They are particularly interested in: Recent law school graduates to attorneys with approximately 3 years of experience Candidates with backgrounds in transactional law, administrative law, contract drafting and negotiation, or related practice areas Attorneys seeking a long-term opportunity to develop expertise in a unique and rewarding practice area Key Responsibilities Advise governmental entities on legal, policy, and governance matters Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements Prepare resolutions, orders, meeting agendas, minutes, correspondence, and other legal documents Conduct legal research and provide practical recommendations regarding risk, compliance, and strategy Attend and participate in board meetings, public hearings, and other governmental proceedings Assist with election-related matters and Texas Public Information Act requests Partner directly with clients and consultants to address legal and operational challenges Manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining exceptional client service Maintain accurate billing and administrative records Qualifications Required J.D. from an accredited law school Active Texas Bar license or ability to become licensed in Texas Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills Ability to travel to client meetings and events as needed Preferred Experience in municipal law, public law, governmental affairs, public finance, administrative law, land use, regulatory matters, or related practice areas Transactional and contract drafting experience Experience working with government entities, boards, commissions, or public bodies They offer a highly competitive benefits package, including: Firm-paid Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance (up to $50,000), Short-Term Disability, and Long-Term Disability coverage for employees AFLAC supplemental insurance options 401(k) with a 3% Safe Harbor employer contribution following eligibility requirements Billable goal is 1800.
