Individual Placement Coordinator Upper Rio Grande Office (Taos) Rocky Mountain Youth Corps (RMYC) is a nonprofit youth development organization serving New Mexico. Position Title: Individual Placement Program Coordinator Position Timeline: Targeted start date is Fall/Winter 2026 Apply By: October 10, 2026 Work Location: Taos, NM, with travel throughout the state 1321 Salazar Rd, Taos, New Mexico 87571 Classification: Full-time, Salary (Full-Time Year Round Staff) Schedule: 40-hour work week, Monday–Friday, with additional hours as required by program needs, including occasional weekends/overnights. Additional hours may be flexed as time off in accordance with organizational policy. Compensation: Starting range is $48,000 to $54,000; All benefits as provided for in RMYC staff manual, after a 60-day waiting period, including Health/Dental insurance (100% of premiums for staff covered by RMYC), over 19 days of PTO, 14 paid holidays, 3% match to SIMPLE IRA, Life Insurance, Flexible Spending Account, Employee Assistance Program, annual wellness benefit and access to pro-deals. Supervision Exercised: Exercises supervision over Individual Placements at RMYC Supervision Received: Receives direct supervision from Individual Placement Program Manager; indirect supervision by Conservation Program Director Position Summary: Individual Placements at Rocky Mountain Youth Corps are specialized interns who serve directly alongside professionals inside a partner agency/host site. This role provides logistical, technical, and administrative support to young adults who are completing a range of placement-based projects throughout New Mexico. The Individual Placement Coordinator is responsible for program implementation, supervision and management of Individual Placements, partner development and relationship management, relevant training, risk management, personnel management, and youth development. This role is primarily based out of the RMYC office but also includes a field presence to support, check in and continuously develop and train Individual Placement participants in the field throughout New Mexico. Primary Duties: Individual Placement Coordination Directly support the implementation of Individual Placements based out of RMYC’s Upper Rio Grande and Middle Rio Grande regions in collaboration with the Individual Placement Program Manager and Albuquerque-based Coordinator.

Communicate directly with project partners to ensure that objectives and goals for IP positions are mutually understood and agreed upon in advance of implementation;

Practice clear, professional communication at all times with RMYC partners during and after project implementation.

Update Project Impact database with measurable results; complete periodic and regular reporting in compliance with all grant/agreement requirements; Develop IP-specific data collection processes

Assist in developing and implementing new program initiatives and long-term planning.

Program Development & Maintenance Work with existing project partners to identify future IP opportunities and maintain existing agreements; Develop positions with various project partners.

Seek out new partnerships with relevant federal, state, county, and local agencies or non-profit organizations.

Work with partners to ensure that host sites are aware and supportive of RMYC’s mission and expectations of them as partners.

Maintain a thorough grasp of the New Mexico conservation landscape to be ready to develop opportunities.

Personnel Support and Management: Provide direct supervision, coaching, and guidance to RMYC Individual Placements ensuring Positive Youth Development, professional and efficient operations, and the fulfillment of RMYC’s mission.

Support IP’s wellness and health, Individual Development Plans, evaluations, and transitions.

Maintain a presence to support project implementation, partner relationships, member development, and ensure that objectives are being worked towards.

Address disciplinary issues, conflicts, or other workplace-related matters requiring staff intervention, following RMYC philosophy of Positive Youth Development.

Review and approve timecards for accuracy, and ensure timely submission.

Assist with onboarding and personnel paperwork as needed.

Lead or assist the process of recruiting, orienting, and training Individual Placements. Provide support the the crew-based Conservation program in these activities as needed and as capacity exists.

Technical Skills Training: Facilitate training in addition to several in person and virtual orientations for Individual Placements in pertinent project skills. Positions will vary widely and can include, but are not limited to, office-based work (MS office, Google office, standard workplace expectations, etc) chainsaw use, crosscut saw use, trail construction and maintenance, tool use, habitat restoration, ecological monitoring, fence construction, GIS, backcountry navigation, and others.

Provide training in data collection related to forest health monitoring, trail maintenance, habitat improvement, and other areas required by project agreements or regional/national initiatives.

As capacity exists, provide technical training for Conservation Program in areas of expertise – trail construction and maintenance techniques, habitat/wetland restoration, erosion control, invasive species removal, historic preservation, environmental education, community garden construction, community outreach and/or tool use/maintenance.

Risk Management: Conduct field visits as needed to observe, audit, and provide feedback regarding practices as well as support the ongoing training and development of Individual Placements.

Participate as a rotating member of On Call team for after-hours field support and incident response related to both Upper Rio Grande and Middle Rio Grande crews.

Document and debrief incidents occurring in the field; log all incidents in tracking database to analyze trends over time.

Additional Duties: Support in purchases and/or delivery of tools, gear, and supplies needed to complete projects, coordinating with the Program Manager around available budgets.

As capacity exists, assisting the Upper Rio Grande program staff with facilitation of orientation and training activities for non-Individual Placement program participants. This includes, but is not limited to supporting with Conservation Program orientation, tabling, recruiting, community events and outreach, and training.

Job Requirements: Knowledge of current conservation initiatives, especially in the American Southwest.

Knowledge of public land managing agencies, recreation management, and natural resource management.

Ability to train others in appropriate skills and outdoor safety practices, including GPS and DeLorme inReach units.

Ability to work well with youth and young adults from diverse backgrounds and educational levels.

Demonstrated proficiency in off-road driving.

Complete paperwork with accuracy and efficiency; proficiency with Google Suite & Microsoft Office Suite applications.

Ability to work well in a team environment.

Excellent group facilitation and conflict resolution skills.

Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of corpsmembers, staff, community members, & stakeholders.

Attention to detail and ability to write accurate, thorough, and timely correspondence and reports.

Creative problem-solving capacity in response to issues that arise both in and out of the field.

Travel Requirements: The Individual Placement Coordinator must be available to travel as needed to remote project locations throughout New Mexico and be prepared to camp overnight or occasionally for multiple nights, both near vehicles and in backcountry settings.

Qualifications: Minimum two years of field experience in natural resource management, outdoor education, or related fields.

Minimum one year of experience with a Youth/Conservation Corps or other program serving youth and young adults.

High School Diploma or equivalent (Preferred: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution).

Minimum 21 years of age, with valid driver’s license and insurable motor vehicle record.

Pre-employment background check will be required, including an FBI fingerprint background check.

(Preferred) First Aid/CPR Instructor certification.

(Preferred) Wilderness First Responder (WFR) or higher medical certification, or ability to obtain WFR within 6 months.

Working Conditions: In performing the essential functions of this position, the Individual Placement Coordinator will be required to: Operate standard office equipment, telephones, and computers.

Lift or move up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly.

Traverse uneven terrain; balance, stoop, kneel, reach, push, pull, and/or grasp.

Occasionally hike long distances carrying gear or personal equipment weighing 40-50 pounds.

Have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and determine accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned.

Receive detailed information through oral communication; convey spoken instructions accurately and effectively.

Work outdoors, subject to outside environmental conditions.

Work near occasional loud noise from equipment such as chainsaws.
