Day Laborer

Summary:

Deseret Cattle & Citrus is looking for experienced and dependable day workers to assist with various cattle-related tasks on an as-needed basis. This is a seasonal position, ideal for individuals with strong cattle-handling skills who are available during peak working periods.

Responsibilities:

• Help during works, including marking, branding, weaning, and shipping.
• Assist in daily cattle care including feeding, watering, and basic health checks.
• Upkeep ranch appearance by repairing farm buildings, fences, and other structures.
• Operate farm and heavy equipment such as tractors, skid loader, and trucks.
• Safely perform tasks assigned.
• Adhere to all industry, company and local ranch policies and procedures.
• Daily work may include independent tasks and collaborative teamwork.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Available to work on an as-needed basis.
• Safely and proficiently work cattle on horseback, while following company's animal husbandry/welfare policies.
• Safely and efficiently gather cattle in pasture and works cattle in corrals/pens, adhering to low-stress principles.
• Have reliable transportation and own horse(s).
• Be punctual, respectful, and safety-conscious.

Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.• Regularly lift, carry, push, pull, and/or move materials, supplies, or equipment weighing up to 75 pounds.• Push, pull, and drag up to 200 pounds.• Perform work that involves standing, squatting, sitting, walking, leaning, bending, and riding for 8-12 hours per day, including time in both field and office environments.• Frequently engage in physical activities such as reaching, climbing, balancing, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, pushing, and pulling, particularly during animal handling and equipment operation or maintenance.• Demonstrate manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required to safely handle livestock, tools, ropes, restraints, and equipment.• Frequently grasp, hold, and manipulate tools and animal handling equipment.• Effectively communicate in a variety of environments, including outdoor settings, in person, by phone, and using electronic devices as required. • Be able to see and hear well enough to monitor livestock condition, identify signs of illness or distress, and respond to safety warnings and environmental hazards.• Assist with and/or perform routine animal husbandry procedures, following established protocols and training, which may include vaccinations, ear tagging, branding, dehorning, castration, blood sampling, and euthanasia.
