Mechanic Diesel Technician

Position Description Ryder is hiring a Senior Level Diesel Technician in Raleigh, NC offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a Technician career you can feel good about. Hourly Pay: $36.25 per hour. Certification Bonus of $100 for each new ASE Certification obtained, up to $700. Sign On Bonus: $2,500 at 30 days and $2,500 at 90 days. Schedule: Monday - Friday. First Shift 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Responsibilities Assist and train Technicians as needed, provide customer service to daily customers, and give feedback to the Service Manager on employee performance for appraisal or disciplinary purposes. Oversee parts distribution & inventory, shop reporting, warranty recovery, unit tracking, payroll administration, and other duties assigned by the Supervisor/Manager. Qualifications 18 years of age or older. High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical certification and a Post‑Secondary degree preferred. Four (4) years or more relevant work experience in automotive gas or diesel engine repair, including routine preventative maintenance, diagnostics, AC and electrical systems repairs, and advanced skilled level repairs such as major engine repairs or diesel after-treatment/fuel injection repairs. Ability to read codes and instructions on a computer, and competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, internet usage, and related software. Experience with maintenance computerized programs to create reports and communicate with customers, vendors, and company representatives. Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A preferred; must meet Ryder’s driving qualifications and obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire. Must pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, background and motor‑vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from the last 3 years), and a Ryder road test. Proficient in SMO, SBT, payroll system, warranty recovery, and employee handbook; thorough understanding of unit utilization procedures. Minimum Tech II up to Tech IV qualifications plus a minimum of 6 months supervisory or training experience. Ability to work flexible schedules including shift work, weekends, holidays, and on‑call rotations for roadside assistance.
