Chemical Operator I Job Title: Chemical Operator I Employment Type: Full-Time Location: Kings Mountain, NC Pay: $20.00 per hour Schedule: Monday- Friday 7am-3pm Job Summary The Chemical Operator I works in a production manufacturing environment and is responsible for ensuring that batches of chemicals are properly filtered and packaged to meet quality assurance standards. Key Responsibilities Support and promote a safety-first culture through appropriate safety behaviors and active care for others. Perform proper filtration of QC-approved materials into containers specified by process order instructions. Fill containers with product after filtration to the correct weights specified on the process order. Accurately identify filtered and packaged product so it can be properly labeled, stored, and shipped while maintaining a clean and organized work environment. Apply product labels to containers as necessary. Accurately record yields and container consumption on process orders for confirmation. Maintain accurate inventory records for all materials used or discarded. Process re-packs of materials into new containers and complete required re-pack forms. Assist in batch-building, automated filling equipment operation, and utility work as required. Perform general maintenance and housekeeping of work areas. Maintain RCRA awareness and properly manage satellite waste accumulation, including container selection, labeling, dating, consolidation, and transfer to the appropriate storage area. Complete annual RCRA training, including Emergency Coordinator refresher, Contingency Plan training, and hazardous waste training. Assist with physical inventory and cycle counting efforts. Follow spill and emergency response procedures. Train other employees as needed. Operate a forklift as required. Use an RF scanner to scan batch tickets into SAP. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or GED preferred. Experience working in a manufacturing environment or previous chemical experience preferred. 1 year of experience using material handling equipment in a warehouse or manufacturing environment. 1 year of previous Stand-up Forklift experience; must be forklift certified within 30 days of hire. Ability to write, read, and comprehend English and follow simple written and verbal instructions. Ability to perform simple math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Ability to lift 50lbs Must be able to work in a production environment with frequent exposure to strong chemical odor Physical Demands & Work Environment Frequent walking, standing, moving, reaching, and navigating in an open warehouse/production environment. Frequent operation of a forklift. Physical activity may include balancing more than 50% of the time, standing more than 66%, walking more than 33%, reaching above/below more than 66%, and sitting more than 5% of the time. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. and frequent movement of objects up to 2,500 lbs. using proper lifting devices. Work may occur in non-temperature-controlled areas where temperatures can reach or exceed 90-100°F or potentially fall below 32°F. Frequent exposure to fumes and/or unpleasant odors, including ammonia, amines, and acrylate (irritant classification only). Occasional intermittent noise levels not to exceed 85 dB. Constant interaction/manipulation of water-based and UV-cured inks and frequent interaction with skin sensitizers and corrosive materials. Required PPE may include safety glasses, safety-toe shoes, face shield and/or dust mask, Tyvec sleeves/coat/overalls, respirator, and standard or butyl nitrile gloves.
