Job Description Patient Care Tech-Surgery (Full Time) - 7446-3880 Rockdale Medical Center Description Under the supervision of an RN, performs basic patient care activities. Reports to: Nurse Manager Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs and setting up and taking out IVs. Adds to patient comfort by getting warm blankets, providing drinks/crackers post-op, and helping patients to the bathroom. Assists with keeping all areas stocked, clean, orderly and informs supervisor when supplies are low. Orders surgical attire and cleaning items. Uses appropriate disinfectants and wipes down low-level items, such as wheelchairs, stretchers, IV poles, recliners and other equipment after patient use. Assists anesthesia care givers as directed. Safely transports patients to include utilization of hand-off procedures, room readiness and the turnover cleaning process between surgical cases. Patient Experience. Employee shall endeavor to provide a superior patient experience. Participates in departmental PI plan to include regulatory and professional standards compliance. Qualifications Minimum Education: X High school diploma or equivalent □ Preferred X Required X Other: PCT, MA, EMT, or paramedic course or be enrolled in nursing school. X Preferred □ Required Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. 1 year in hospital environment preferred .
