Probe Services Machinist (Onsite)

What You Will Do

1. Fabricate parts for Non-interference stress measurement (NSMS) probes to support development testing for commercial and military engine programs. Parts are small most less the 1 inch with many complex details. Machining with magnification is often required.
2. Fabricate holding fixtures required for manufacture of Non-interference stress measurement (NSMS) probes parts.
3. Fabricate instrumentation and special test equipment parts to support development testing in WPB test facilities.
4. Modify development testing hardware to support development testing for commercial, military, and APU engine programs.
5. Maintain shop tooling and inventory of cutting tools.
6. This position involves a high degree of interaction with both the Measurement Systems Engineering design group, Probe Services optics installation group and test operations groups requiring effective verbal and written communication skills.
7. This organization supports development testing and assembly operations at the WPB site.

Qualifications You Must Have

• AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with 8 years of machining experience in a manufacturing environment or in lieu of degree 10 years of experience.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Technical machinist trade school certification or manufacturing degree
• CNC machining
• Machine control programming (MasterCam)
• Dimensional inspection (MicroVU)
• Experience with AutoCad, Wire EDM, machine setup, comparator operation, dimensional M&TE or Blueprint reading
• Knowledge of algebra and geometry.
• Knowledge/experience of Model Based Design (MBD)
